Does it need maintenance?
Yes — the evaporator pad is an annual item, and the water panel scales up on hard water. It is on the fall tune-up list for Comfort Club members and we will tell you when it needs doing either way.
Can it be added during another visit?
A fall heating tune-up is the natural time. The system is already down, the ductwork is accessible, and the humidifier is useful the same week it goes in.
Can a humidifier cause problems?
Set too high, yes. Excess humidity condenses on the coldest surfaces in the house — window glass, exterior wall cavities — and that is a moisture problem you did not have before. We set the humidistat conservatively and show you how to back it off if you see condensation on the windows.
