A furnace that will not light is usually an igniter, a flame sensor, a pressure switch, or a control board, and those are four very different repair bills. We diagnose it, we show you the part, and if the heat exchanger is cracked we shut it off and tell you why — that one is not a judgment call.

  • Hot-surface igniter resistance measured, or pilot and thermocouple output tested
  • Flame sensor cleaned and the flame signal read in microamps against the specification
  • Pressure switch and inducer verified, including the hose and port that cause half of these calls
  • Manifold gas pressure checked against the rating plate
  • Heat exchanger inspected for cracks, rust-through and flame impingement
  • Flue and vent connector checked for draft, disconnection and clearance
  • Carbon monoxide spot reading before we leave

How the visit actually goes

  1. We get the whole story before we open the door

    Does it try to light and quit, or does nothing happen at all? Does it run and then shut off after a few minutes? Those point at completely different parts, and the answer shortens the visit.

  2. We watch it run through the sequence

    Call for heat, inducer, pressure switch proving, igniter, gas valve, flame proving, blower. Whatever it fails to do tells us where the fault is, and it is usually visible in one cycle.

  3. We show you the part and the reading

    A flame sensor putting out well under specification, an igniter open-circuit on a meter, a pressure switch that never closes. You should be able to see the evidence rather than take our word for it.

  4. We repair it and re-check combustion

    Temperature rise inside the listed range, manifold pressure verified, draft confirmed, and a carbon monoxide reading taken before we leave.

Questions people ask before booking

  • How fast can you get here when the heat is out?

    No heat under 40 degrees is an emergency call and we run those nights, weekends and holidays. Someone from here calls you back, not a call center. The phone is faster than a form.

  • What does a furnace repair usually cost?

    It depends entirely on the part. A flame sensor cleaning and an igniter sit at the low end; a control board or a gas valve sits well above them; an inducer motor is in between. We give you the number before we do the work, and the replacement number beside it when the system is old enough for that to matter.

  • How do you actually check a heat exchanger?

    Visual inspection with a mirror and a light, a camera where the design allows one, flame pattern observed through a full cycle with the blower on, and combustion readings. Not one of those on its own is conclusive, which is why we do them together and show you the result.

  • Do I need a permit for a repair?

    No. A permit is for equipment replacement, not for a part. If a repair turns into a changeout we pull the permit then, and it is in that price.

  • Do you work on systems you did not install?

    Yes, on any residential brand.
