AC Repair in East Cobb, GA
Twenty-nine free-flow minutes south-east on surface roads. The thing that shapes a no-cooling call here is not the air conditioner at all — it is what the air conditioner is bolted to.
Half the no-cooling calls here are on the heating equipment
Four households in five in this part of the county heat with utility gas, which is the highest concentration anywhere we work. That means the indoor half of nearly every cooling system here is a gas furnace: the furnace's blower moves the air, the furnace's control board sequences it, and the furnace's capacitor starts the motor that does it. When a house here has no cooling in July, a genuinely large share of the time the outdoor unit is fine and the fault is on the furnace side — a failed blower capacitor, a control board that has lost its cooling relay, a limit switch that has locked out. A technician who arrives, puts gauges on the condenser, finds a normal charge and shrugs has diagnosed the wrong half of the system. We check airflow before we check refrigerant for exactly this reason, and in this part of the county it is not a preference — it is where the fault usually is.
The same thing is true wherever you are
A refrigerant top-off with no leak search is not a repair. Refrigerant is not consumed — if the charge is low, it left through a hole, and it will leave again through the same hole. Any shop can sell you a pound of refrigerant on a hot afternoon and you will be pleased with them for about six weeks. We will find the leak and price fixing it, and if you want a charge to get you through a weekend while you decide, we will do that too and tell you plainly what it is buying you. We also will not quote a repair over the phone. Anyone who does is quoting a part they have not seen on a system they have not measured.

Questions people ask
How fast can you get here?
Often the same day during business hours. Nights, weekends and holidays we run an emergency rotation and a technician calls you back. Comfort Club members get scheduled ahead of non-members, which is most of what people join for in July.
Do you charge for the diagnostic?
Yes, there is a flat diagnostic fee for a service call, and we tell you what it is on the phone before we dispatch. It is waived for Gold and Platinum Comfort Club members.
My system is low on refrigerant. Can you just add some?
We can, and on its own that is a bad deal for you. Refrigerant does not get used up — if it is low, it left through a leak, and it will leave again. We will find the leak and price the repair. If you want a charge to get through a weekend while you decide, we will do that too, and tell you plainly what it is buying you.
Repair or replace?
The rule of thumb we actually use: if the repair is more than about a third of a replacement and the system is past twelve, replacement usually wins. Under that, fix it. The refrigerant a system uses moves that line too, because an older refrigerant on a leaking coil changes the arithmetic.
Do you work on systems you did not install?
Yes, on any residential brand.
